BS4 vs BS6
Ever since the deadline to stop production of BS3 compliant models has passed, many Indian manufacturers have started preparations to clear their stocks of BS3 versions and start selling BS4 compliant models. This resulted in a plethora of discounts and offers on the table to boost sales.

since,
A lot of people are waiting for the so called sale which is expected to happen in the new year 2020. With the BS6 emission norms coming into effect from April 1, a large section of customers are on strike, waiting for the right deals and discounts. to come their way.

While a large number of manufacturers such as Renault, Nissan,
Skoda and Audi have revealed their plans to phase out diesel powertrains. Some brands like Hyundai, Kia Motors and Mercedes-Benz have already launched a range of BS6 emission compliant models. Not to forget, there is also Maruti Suzuki which has updated most of its products with BS6 petrol engines,
While diesel units will see the end of the road before the emission norms are set early next year.

With the various methods taken by the makers, does it really make sense to wait till the last minute? Probably not, and here's why. For starters,
Models which are already BS6 compliant will not have any discount or benefit as they do not come under the said ambit. Next is the range of manufacturers who have BS4 products. While models from these brands are currently being produced, some brands are gradually reducing or stopping production.

On the other hand,
Manufacturers like Isuzu have announced that they will stop production of BS4 vehicles by the end of the year. The company has also revealed that the entire product portfolio will be updated to comply with BS6 emission norms, which will result in a significant increase in prices, which are expected to be in the range of Rs 3-4 lakh.
The brand is also offering discounts and special offers on all models till the end of the year to clear the existing stock of BS4 vehicles.

For those brands and their dealers who intend to stock BS4 vehicles, they may lose a fair amount in their profit margins, if not more,
Because after the implementation of BS6 norms from 1 April 2020, registration of BS4 cars will not happen.

Manufacturers like Honda and Hyundai are offering huge discounts of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively, depending on which model one buys. Even Hyundai's best-
Sellers have seen discounts as the Creta is the first time since its launch in the market. The country's largest automaker Maruti Suzuki is also offering discounts on its popular models. Some other names in the list of exempted manufacturers include Mahindra, Ford, Tata Motors, Volkswagen, Skoda, Nissan, Toyota, among others.
Renault and Jaguarland Rover. Discounts vary with each brand and model, ranging from a few thousands to a few lakhs.
However, these offers do not stand for recent launches like Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, New Hyundai Elantra, Kia Seltos and MG Hector.

Discounting is not a recent phenomenon,
It is stable from last six months but BS6 is likely to end. Now might be the best time to get hold of that favorite car that you have been eyeing for so long but haven't been able to buy yet. moreover,
The fact that you want to seal the deal by the end of the current calendar year,
Might encourage the dealer to meet their targets before 2019 to make the deal a little more attractive.
